Helping others is a big part of Green Heron Solar. We partner with the Solar Seed Project to bring solar to impoverished communities in Haiti, Puerto Rico, and Costa Rica. Our projects focus on bringing solar to people who need reliable electricity to run medical equipment.

For every project in the US that Green Heron Solar completes, a donation is made to these efforts.

Gary is also the driver of the educational project called the Solar Bus and he is very active in the solar community. The Burlington Free Press once called him “the Pied Piper of Solar Energy.” With the bus, he visits schools from kindergarten to college to teach about solar energy. He has welcomed many bands and political and renewable energy luminaries to his solar-powered stage including Bernie Sanders, Patrick Leahy, and Bill McKibben.

Gary is currently promoting a petition to improve the net metering laws in Vermont. If you’re in Vermont, please check out and sign the petition:
