Owner Gary Beckwith started Long Trail Solar in 2012 which eventually became Green Heron Solar in 2025. Gary has 35 years of experience in every aspect of solar energy design, installation, and operation of solar PV and BESS, including residential, commercial, and hospital systems. Headquartered in Richmond, VT, we operate primarily in the state of Vermont, but have expanded our reach to the Mid- Atlantic region and have begun working with Community Solar clients in Maine. Gary loves spending his free time running Open-Mic night at a local brewery, leading his band “The FOG” at gigs around Vermont and beyond, and getting out into nature with his dogs and camera for taking photographs of birds and sunsets.

Josh Goldstein is a PMP-certified Program Manager and leader across federal, regulated, and energy environments. After starting his career in technical writing, he has spent most of his career establishing and leading PMOs, building governance frameworks, managing risk and compliance, and aligning executive stakeholders across complex, multi-agency initiatives. At Green Heron Solar, he supports renewable energy strategy and market expansion into community and plug-in solar markets, broadening clean energy access and advancing sustainable energy adoption. Josh is committed to applying rigorous program leadership to environmental and sustainability initiatives that drive meaningful impact. Outside of Green Heron Solar, Josh’s interests include nature, birding, hiking, and photography (sometimes with Gary!).
